Ken, how do we get rid of Lilla Dickerson who has apparently spammed many of us on this site?

Ken, Thank you for taking a look at the little Glamor Girl video
and I am happy you enjoyed it. The pinhole does create an
"unknown observer" feeling as it often does even in still images. I think the circular vignette lets the viewer feel there is a point where the image enters the camera that wider lens views tend to let us forget. I really love the 500 years of portraits of women and the short of B&W photography, another reminder of our roots and famiily as photographers and artists. Thank you so much for putting this marvelous site together and for the opportunities for so many to view and share! I have enjoyed your oils here very much and can almost smell the linseed oil! I love the light and modernist vision.

Hi Ken-it's at the B&N over on Bald Hill Road in Warwick. I think we only have three B&N's in RI and that's the Warwick one. Should be alot of fun.

hi Ken, thanks for your nice comments about my paintings! I think I figured out the invite thing - someone requests-then I send the invite-then they agree -is that right?

Ken, re. our discussion earlier today. It might be a great service to all members, especially those of us who paint outdoors, to create a shared gallery of scenery photos. I know I take photos (whenever I remember my camera,) and would be happy to share. That way we could all have landscapes to paint in January and February when the weather is too lousy to go outdoors.

I'm so happy you had a similar response to Hundertwasser! There was a quickening within me, the more I saw and read. What he brought to that low-income housing building- for free!-kind of made me melty for a minute. Something child-like and something quite mature is a nice combination. There are clearly big changes about to happen in this world, and they've been happening, something is building...I can feel it. But unlike a lot of people, who think the end is near, I think we will fall back on the deepest and most wonderful truths within us- and when there is change, there is always opportunity and infinite possibilty. If we all start loving ourselves and each other and this beauty all around us in the form of Nature- incredible things can happen. Why is it no one likes to talk about the most important things? Painting is just one of many ways to make manifest our unique ideas and visions. I'm glad you made this site. Even if I rarely come over to this computer and turn it on. Someone said to me the other day---"you ask me about me drinking, but never about my thirst". An old Irish saying that hit me just the right way. Let's talk again...

Hi Ken, thanks for the welcome and nice words. Like your work also, in particular, the painting with the flat rocks, clean yet subtle colors and nice compostion. This site is a great idea.

A Stroke of Insight

A friend sent me a link on a video of brain researcher Jill Bolte Taylor talking about her most profound learning experience: her own massive stroke. Her story is pretty amazing. Her description of right/left brain function is a draw for anyone interested in visual arts, but the resonance of her journey reaches far beyond.

I've left the embedded flash player link for a visual in this post, but the video may be slow to load. If you find that to be the case, you can just go directly to the the si… Continue

Best Art Resources in Southern N.E. SURVEY

There's been some very useful input to this group about area resources for artists. We already have input on photo software, printers and ink, giclee, and comments about Gerry's etc. I'd like to retrieve it all and add it to a permanent listing of best places to purchase an array of art supplies. I imagine it can be set up so that any network member can rate and if they choose, review any vendor in an expanding list of "nominated" suppliers, both local and online. It might also include brand rat… Continue
